Czechoslovak modernist Illustration of the 1950s and 1960s and Its Influence on the Identities of Contemporary Czech Artists>

A doctoral thesis “Czechoslovakian modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s and its influences in the contemporary Czech visual culture” is focused on how a modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s influences Czech contemporary authors, especially illustrators. We can witness a particularly strong influence of the above mentioned modernist illustration and visual culture of that period in general among producers employing digital tools and vector graphics served. The thesis contains a historical study which follows developments of the visual language of graphic arts (illustration in particular) in the 1950s and 1960s in relation to fine arts. There is a special focus on a position of the 1960s’ modernist illustration within the applied arts of the period. Biographical study dedicated to illustrator M. Šašek introduce key figure of the (late) modernist period.
The Singing Fountain in The Royal Garden of The Prague castle

This work follows three main questions, which will allow a deeper appreciation of art historical monument. At first, there is a concise story of rulers, which donated fountain. In the next part, the work gives ideas of the original context of the installation of the bronze fountain in the architecture of the Royal Garden at the Prague Castle in the third quarter of the 16th century. The artistic description with historical sources presents the monument as the result of the work of artists associated around the royal gunsmith Tomas Jaros of Brno. In the closing section attempts to draw attention to the potential non-European cultural influence in the creation of artwork. Compared fanciful figures on the fountain with bells of the late 16th century, attempts to document the gradual domestication of a particular theme used on the Habsburg court before the arrival of Rudolf II. Secondary question will present conservation of the artwork.
Czech Cubism: Its Educational Potentialities for Gallery and School

This thesis studies the possibilities of education in the field of Czech cubism in museum and school environment. Czech cubism is a phenomenon that cannot be found in any other place in the world. The aim of this thesis is to bring this cultural monument and its basics to the primary and secondary schools and to the public. An educational programme is presented, that contains the theory, visual art assignments and an assignment booklet. The project is focused on realisation of our cultural tradition and visual art originality. Style development of czech perfume bottle from the second half of the 19th till the beginning of the 20th century

English abstract The fundamental goal of this thesis includes a closer look at the glass-making industry of flaconware in Bohemia during the 19th century and the early 20th century. The first chapter provides a brief introduction to the history of flacons as containers for fragrances and their use in different countries. Perfume bottles have been in use since ancient times for the preservation of fragrances. The chapter describes the emergence of the first flacons and different techniques for their production. The second chapter provides insight into the centers of production of scent bottles in Bohemia. There were several production centers, where the perfume bottles were manufactured. Glass factories varied in methods of production, ornamentation techniques and stylistic orientation. The chapter introduces the most significant glass factories, where the flaconware was developed. The third chapter is dedicated to the situation in the Czech flaconware in the first half of the 19th century. The political situation in Europe influenced the appearance of Czech flacons. Classicism and, subsequently, the Empire style from France were adopted. Since the 30s the style tendencies of flaconware had turned to the use of elements of Biedermeier. Design's crossroads of the past century

The bachelor thesis has the character of reflection design in terms of cultural, historical and theoretical. It deals with a design as specific bringing together science, technology and fine arts in relation to human culture and indicates the position of design in art education for pupils from 12 years. Based on the analysis of the design is elaborated suggestion of educational work together with the author's own creation. The result and benefit of the thesis is a) division of the design into two basic tendencies in the 20th century b) a set of didactic's procedures geared to dealing with the design on the border of art and media education c) creation of the author, as the design of storage space, d) reflection of relation photographs and design based on the author's own photographs. Interpretation of a Natural form as a Pictorial Artefact

The thesis deals with the historical development of applied arts and the plant motifs of decorative creation. There is also mentioned the problem of the natural geometric decorative motifs development and the difference between the functional and decorative artefact. Then there are described the sources of inspiration, which were used as basis for the practical part. Description of the practical part deals with the production of ceramic artefacts, then with the problem of colours and in the end it describes the installation of light into one of the objects, which is the decorative light.
The print on textile

The thesis is focused on print on textile. Theoretical part of the thesis describes natural and synthetic textile fibres, construction of textile fabrics, their history and ways of use. Next part is devoted to the art of printing, specifically hand printing methods. There is one chapter describing how to use the hand print in teaching at elementary schools of art. This is followed by the practical part of thesis. The practical part describes different procedures of hand printing on the different textile fabrics. There are presented final scarves with own patterns. Results of this thesis are described in the last chapter.
